Board of Trustees

Fred Groverman, D.V.M., Founder Fred was born and raised in Petaluma and still lives and raises sheep on the ranch where he was born. Following his graduation from the University of California Davis as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, in 1958 he joined the Cotati Small Animal Hospital where he still works today. He is married with four grown children and a proud grandfather of six. As an active member of his community, Fred has served on numerous boards for more than forty years including Santa Rosa Memorial Alliance, Association of California Hospital Districts, Waugh Elementary School and the Sonoma County Fair boards. His veterinary experience has allowed him to be a valuable leader of the Sonoma County 4-H program for thirty six years. With his extensive knowledge of business and health care, he has been an advocate at the state level for health care related legislation. Fred was a co-founder of our Foundation in 1975 and became an active member in 1999 after serving over 27 years on the Petaluma Health Care District Board of Directors.

Christina Kauk, President Christina has been involved in many aspects of community life in Petaluma, having taught at Santa Rosa Junior College for 28 years, serving 12 years as a Trustee for the Petaluma City Schools, many years as a member of the Friends of the Petaluma Campus of the Junior College, as well as the advisory committees for the Friends of the Petaluma River and the Petaluma Arts Council. She has helped lead music at St. Vincent’s Parish for over 30 years, working collaboratively with the musicians of our Hispanic community. She is also a business owner with her husband, helping manage a busy physical therapy and wellness practice for the past 28 years, and together they have created a totally green wellness center on the turning basin at the heart of Petaluma.

Bailey Malone, Treasurer Bailey is the Executive Director of the CS Fund, a Sonoma County-based family foundation dedicated to supporting progressive social change at the national and international level. Bailey is a Petaluma native and graduated magna cum laude from Sonoma State University. She lives in Petaluma with her husband and young son.

Melissa Morazán, Secretary Melissa is a Program Officer with Pacific Foundation Services where she works with four family foundations serving the Bay Area.  In addition to her foundation work, Melissa has worked with nonprofits in the Bay Area and abroad.  She was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras and currently serves on the advisory board of Brown Girl Surf, an Oakland based nonprofit. Melissa has a BA in International Relations from Boston University and a Masters of Public Policy from the University of California at Berkeley. Melissa grew up in Sonoma County and lives in Cotati with her husband and two daughters.

Sharon Kirk Sharon and her family have lived in Petaluma for the past 22 years. They've see their daughter and son through the Petaluma schools and enjoyed volunteering in a variety of kid-focused activities. Sharon founded the Valley Vista Elementary School After School Enrichment Program, was a volunteer soccer coach with PYSL for five years, and managed her son's traveling soccer team for three years. She ran the Petaluma Voicemail for the Homeless program with John Records at COTS. Sharon has been with Enphase Energy in Petaluma for the past 8 years, and is currently the Director of Worldwide Training with the company.
